BugsysClub Skill League Update

August 27th A.M. Top 10

The August Skill League will end in 5 days and I am still top with a personal best score of 1945.49 set yesterday. Moving up into second place, helped by a 1st/164 result, is mightycricket with a 1909.24 skill rating.

I'm sure that I will be overtaken before the end of the month and the Skill League will go down to the wire with a tense final day on the 31st of August which could be decided by the very last tournament. I may have to reach my original goal of 2000 skill points in order to win the league.

Skill PB

Since my last post I have had 5 cashes at Bugsy's Club's Skill tournaments and 3 out of 5 of those cashes have been wins. That's given me a new personal best skill score of 1881.02.

Friday Morning Skill Leaderboard

The 3 wins weren't easy.

WIN1: One of my greatest ever comebacks. Came back from chip and chair 10-handed at the final table.

WIN2: Overcame a 5:1 chip disadvantage heads-up.

WIN3: Lost nearly all of my stack when my AQ lost to A8 and my KK lost to AQ. Arrived at the final table as the short stack and fortunately doubled up with AT v AQ. Still short stacked I mucked JJ preflop after my raise got re-raised and thus I took another knock back. From there I played my opponents well and 4-handed I busted all 3 other players.

Apart from my wins, the list of slowrollers has also increased: RobertoMac (slowrolled AA vs my QQ) joins bbanddd (slowrolled AA vs my JJ).

Skill & APAT

Had 3 skill cashes in a row yesterday at Bugsy's Club to give myself a little cushion in second place and close the gap to fairy_ring who hasn't played after reaching a hard to beat score of 1924.68.

My peformance in later games yesterday was hampered by the fact that I read a 52 page thread in one go on Blode Poker regarding the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT).

Gave back some skill points as a result but today I've had 2 skill cashes so far to keep me going. Not bothered that I haven't won a skill tourney in a long time as I was expecting it since changing my strategy in these games.

Below is the Tuesday evening Skill Leaderboard (since posting it I've played a few unfocused games which will make me drop points):

Bugsy's Club Top 20 Skill Players

The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) is holding its inaugural live event, the English Amateur Poker Championship next month and I hope to be one of the 120 players that will compete. Recently, I applied to a poker company for sponsorship/turn professional but was rejected (their loss! lol) - maybe becoming English Amateur Poker Champion will pave the way.

Skill League Update

I've maintained my position as Bugsy's Club's 2nd highest ranked tournament player despite stiff opposition. Looks like it is a race for second place as fairy_ring has extended his lead as the best with some impressive results.

Tuesday Night Update:

Decided on just half a session today as I've been running very bad. My luck is at it's low point and I'm losing almost every race and getting rivered when a big favourite. I've slipped 3 places to 5th in the league and I've cashed in less than 20% of the Skill Tournaments - very disappointing as I expected to be closer to the leader if my luck had been average.

I'm making things worse by tilting and throwing games so I can go and chill - losing even more skill points in the process. I lost about 30 points today and a total of $600 on all poker in the last 3 days.

Slowroller

After a great start I've let my performance slip considerably due to an incident a couple of days ago. I was slowrolled for the first time at Bugsy's Club and I didn't react very professionally to it. Been on tilt since but I've realised I just gotta forget about it and the experience means that I won't let it affect me next time.

Below is the updated table for Saturday morning. Yesterday, despite 2 Skill Tourney wins, I played like a donkey and fairy_ring who's been playing very consistently took full advantage to build a lead.

Skill League Update

Will need to play my A game next week in order to be top by this time next week. Also might need to change strategy as I have been playing a style more appropriate for winning tournaments. Will revert to an In The Money style I think.

Bugsy's Club MTT Day

In order to begin plugging my tournament leaks, I spent the whole of August 2nd playing at Bugsy's Club. My challenge: to reach 1st in the MTT leagues.

Despite taking numerous bad beats and hitting the bubble too often for my liking, I'm happy to report that I managed to be ranked first:
