July 2006 Summary

July was my least profitable month so far this year. I had 12 losing days and also went to Germany and Ibiza. I spent almost $1,000 in last minute WSOP qualifiers without success and overall played below par the whole month.

Despite this, it's been a great month due to Italy winning the World Cup for the 4th time. Been celebrating by partying a lot til 5ams and 6ams. Last Saturday I even went to Global Gathering and I wasn't satisfied with having to leave at 3am!

Need to work on some leaks in August otherwise I will be grinding til Xmas.

World Cup Semi: Germany 0 - 2 Italy

It cost me almost $900 and 60 hours of no poker for 120 minutes of brilliant football: Germany v Italy in Dortmund.

Leaving England for Germany, we were letting everyone know that we were going to do England a favour and knock the Germans out for a place in the World Cup final.

The road trip meant that we arrived in Dortmund via France, Belgium and Holland. A very long slog but Germany made very good hosts on arrival.

Talking football with German fans in a bar before the game, my prediction was that whoever scored first would win 2 - 0. It would also be "national take the flag down day" and it would be raining German tears!

2nd Half: Kick Off

0-0 after 90 minutes: Extra Time awaits

Extra time was awesome as Italy played more aggresively and the Italian fans responded and willed them on to a 119th minute goal by #3 Fabio Grosso. My prediction was realised when #7 Del Piero scored also. Watch the goals:

The German fans took the defeat well and at the end of the game one Deutschland fan wanted to swap his baseball cap for my Italy cap. "A Time to Make Friends" indeed.

Blogger Poker Tour Grand Final

Poker.com's Blogger Poker Tour Grand Final with over $20,000 in prizes took place today. I was one of only 39 players that took part in the final.

I was multi-tabling 4-5 other tournaments at the same time as this and basically wasn't in the mood to take it seriously. In consecutive hands I lost my whole stack by running into QQ and AA to the same player! He didn't end up winning though, EgonOlsen became the first Poker.com Blogger Poker Tour Champion.
